Happy Tet Trung thuSeptember 28, 2018
The Vietnam Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, often known as “Tet Trung thu” is one of the most popular, ancient festivals in Vietnam, especially for children.
Tet Trung thu, traditionally held on the 15th August in Lunar Calendar, dates back around 20,000 years ago in Southeast Asia. Originally, it is an occasion for parents to make up for lost time with their children after the busy harvest season.
Tet Trung thu is considered the combination of Halloween and Thanksgiving. Children parade on streets, singing and carrying colorful lanterns of different shapes and sizes. It is customary to serve Banh Trung Thu, boxes of moon cakes, which are usually filled with lotus seeds, ground beans with a bright yoke in the center representing the moon.
